Library Pop-up: The Fireplace

Join us as we celebrate the 131st anniversary of the Norris Room fireplace! The Norris Room Fireplace is the highlight of any exhibit that is displayed in the Historical Medical Library.

Given to the College of Physicians of Philadelphia in 1888 by George William Childs (1820-1894), the fireplace graced the first free-standing headquarters of the College at 13th and Locust Street. A marvel of concrete construction, the fireplace was moved to the current building upon its completion in 1909.

Access to this event is included with purchase of your General Admission ticket to the Mütter Museum. Click here to purchase tickets.

The Mütter Museum helps the public appreciate the mysteries and beauty of the human body while understanding the history of diagnosis and treatment of disease.
