Once a week during the month of October, the Mütter will stay open late for two hours from 5-7pm, and include a pop-up event from our Museum and Historical Medical Library departments!
Access to these pop-ups is included in the cost of your regular admission, so visit the Museum in the evening and take a peek at some behind the scenes materials and specimens not typically on display!
Wednesday October 7th & Wednesday October 21st, 5-7pmThe Historical Medical Library Presents Imperfecta: The PrequelBefore Imperfecta was an exhibit in the Mütter Museum, it was envisioned as a small Library pop-up exhibit for Archives Month Philly in 2015. Take a step back in time and see Imperfecta: The Prequel! Originally titled "The Monstrous, Fabled & Factual: Exploring the Meaning of ‘Monster,’ 1500-1900," this exhibit explores the concept of the word 'monster' used as a medical term during the past 500 years.
Thursday October 15th & Thursday October 29th, 5-7pmThe Mütter Museum Department Presents A Mortuary Mash!Join us for an evening pop-up of 19th and early 20th century mortuary objects from the days of the home funeral. Take a look at a wake coffin, a mobile embalming kit, an autopsy set, and other specimens that pertain to the funerary process.
The Mütter Museum helps the public appreciate the mysteries and beauty of the human body while understanding the history of diagnosis and treatment of disease.
