Psychoanalysis in a Troubled World: A Celebration of Three New Books by Salman Akhtar

Co-sponsored with the Psychoanalytic Center of Philadelphia

The release of three new books by the internationally recognized psychoanalyst, Salman Akhtar, will form the backdrop for a lively discussion of major troubling issues of our times. Themes of violence, migrants and refugees, prejudice, and terrorism will be touched upon by three distinguished psychoanalysts, Drs. Suzanne Benser, Ira Brenner, and John Frank, in their comments on Dr. Akhtar's books. Together, these commentators will highlight the role played by contemporary psychoanalysis in helping unravel the mysteries of sociopolitical praxis and problems. The author will then respond and take questions from the floor. Ms. Miriam Field, President of PCOP, will act as the moderator for the event.

The Mütter Museum helps the public appreciate the mysteries and beauty of the human body while understanding the history of diagnosis and treatment of disease.
