Join us to explore the large-scale practice of preserving human remains and learn about the history of Mortuary Science and funeral service.

Mortuary Science is a talk centered around the everlasting and universal practice of honoring the dead, with a focus on the technique of embalming, the method of chemically preserving the deceased, which has its roots in Ancient Egypt. Learn about the history of funeral service, the step-by-step process of embalming featuring tools of the trade, and final disposition methods both old and new.

Note: Please be advised that certain topics discussed may be descriptively graphic or sensitive, as they revolve around death. However, no photos of any real deceased individuals or the human body will be used.

Tickets are non-refundable but are transferable to other people. By entering the event premises, you consent to photography, audio recording, video recording, and its release, publication, exhibition, or reproduction to be used for news, promotional purposes, advertising, inclusion on websites, social media, or any other purpose by The College of Physicians/The Mütter Museum and its affiliates and representatives.
