Meet & Geek: Vampirism
Lecture

Sink your fangs into our next Mütter Meet and Geek, which is all about Vampirism! Join us on Thursday, February 5, at 6:00 p.m. when Museum Educator Jo D'Avella invites you to dig deeper into our seasonal pop-up exhibit.
Vampirism examines vampires as a metaphor for 19th-century diseases and medical anxieties. Learn about the people who influenced their literary evolution, and the real medical conditions and misunderstandings that inspired the vampires' most recognizable characteristics.
We are teaming up with the Pennsylvania Bat Rescue for this event to learn more about these often-misunderstood creatures. Do bats carry diseases? What role do they play in the health of humans and our ecosystems? They’ll be prepared to answer all your batty questions!
