Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) teaches you how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges among adults.

This training is useful for employers, police officers, healthcare workers, first responders, and caring professions, as well as any adult who wants to better understand mental health and substance use.

Mental Health First Aid is a skills-based training course that teaches participants about mental health and substance use challenges. Participants will learn:

  • Risk factors and warning signs of mental health and substance use challenges

  • Information on depression, anxiety, trauma, psychosis, and substance use.

  • A 5-Step Action Plan to help someone developing a mental health or substance use challenge.

  • Available evidence-based professional, peer, and self-help resources.

Learners will complete a 2-hour, self-paced online course before participating in a 4.5–5.5-hour, Instructor-led training via video conference.
