About the Film:

The Passion of Joan of Arc by Carl Theodor Dreyer tells the story of the saint's trial for heresy and subsequent burning at the stake, based on actual historical transcripts. Regarded as one of the greatest silent films ever made, it features formidable performances and innovative use of lighting and camera techniques that transform it from rote historical reenactment into a metaphysical meditation on truth, suffering, faith, and the human condition.
