Mütter Museum
Radiant Ball

Step into the future, or at least how people in the early 20th century envisioned it, during our Third Annual Radiant Ball!
We invite you to this electrifying evening celebrating the future of medicine through the lens of Marie Curie and her contemporaries. Don your most glamorous 1920s garb, learn about the innovations in medical technology during the time period, and dance to jazz-age grooves by as we transform our historic building into a dazzling affair!
Marie Curie came to the United States for the first time in 1921, visiting The College of Physicians of Philadelphia, home of the Mütter Museum and Historical Medical Library, to discuss the use of radium in her work and present her piezo-electric measurement device.
Curie and her contemporaries were immersed in a scientific world seeking to understand the tiny and invisible: radiation and genes, germs, atoms, and consciousness. Radiant Ball invites guests to explore themed items from our Museum and Library collections, as well as a party inspired by the scientific imagination of the period.
Join us for a radiant night to remember as we explore the nuanced history of medical technology and its impacts today.
